This wonderful red elephant does not represent anything, and his name is purely nonsensical. Except he does resemble a bit of an oil spill, which I suppose you could link to the infamous Dawn dish soap commercials, post the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil spill of 2010, with the little oil spill ducklings that are still on the bottles to this day (without the oil and looking sad of course). He was simply an exploration of felting, because I found a suitable fabric to create him with and one of my classmates at the time was felting and it looked pretty fun to me. I believe at minimum 10 felting needles were sacrificed to create Dawn Dish Soap, and it proved to me I am far too heavy-handed to ever work with felt on my own dime. Lastly, the ribbon on his head was an incredibly lucky find in the fabric closet at my high school, as nothing but a velvet pastel yellow ribbon would have complemented him so well.
