(Gifted to my Nana in 2022)
Tattooed on my left wrist is the date of birth and date of death of my childhood dog, Jewels, who was gifted to me by my grandfather back in 2010 on a rainy night. That same night, I was gifted a stuffed black dog I aptly named "Jewels Jr.". Every single bit of this stuffed animal is sentimental; it's based off of my dog and the stuffed animal I got the same day. Jewels was the love of my life and forever will be. At the time I made this piece, he was still alive, but very old and in poor health. The jewels on the side of Drippy are a nod to his name and the rain the night he was given to me. The white lace on his chest is a nod to the pattern on Jewels' chest, and the black lace on his neck and underneath is a nod to his double coat, because he was a Labrador mixed with Shepherd and Boxer. And of course, his nose is a heart because I loved him.
The name of this piece however, is as silly as the rest of my soft sculptures, and is just based off of the "drip" this stuffed animal has.
